Population of approximately 1.5 million people. A significant portion of the population consists of expatriates, making up more than half of the total residents.

The official language is Arabic, but English is widely spoken, especially in business and tourism. Other commonly spoken languages include Hindi, Urdu, and Farsi due to the large expatriate population.

The capital and largest city is Manama. Other major cities include Riffa, Muharraq, Isa Town, and Hamad Town.

Seafood, especially kingfish and shrimp, is a staple.

Arid desert climate, with extremely hot summers (often exceeding 40C / 104F) and mild winters. Humidity levels can be high, especially in coastal areas. Rainfall is minimal and occurs mostly in winter.

Notable wildlife includes Arabian oryx, sand gazelles, desert hares, spiny-tailed lizards, and various migratory birds. The waters around Bahrain are home to dolphins, dugongs (sea cows), and rich coral reefs.
