Population of approximately 17 million. The country has a young population, with a significant portion under the age of 30.

The official language is Khmer. English and French are also spoken, particularly in business and tourism.

The capital and largest city is Phnom Penh. Other major cities include Siem Reap (gateway to Angkor Wat), Battambang, and Sihanoukville (coastal city with beaches and a major port).

Deeply influenced by Buddhism and the Khmer Empire. The Angkor Wat temple is a national symbol. Traditional Apsara dance, silk weaving, and shadow puppetry are important cultural expressions. The Khmer Rouge era left a lasting impact on society.

Cambodian Riel (KHR), US Dollar (USD) � The US dollar is widely used alongside the riel, especially for larger transactions.

Khmer cuisine features bold flavors, fresh herbs, and rice-based dishes. Popular dishes: Amok (coconut fish curry), Bai Sach Chrouk (grilled pork with rice), and Nom Banh Chok (Khmer noodles).

Tropical monsoon climate. Hot and humid year-round, with a distinct wet season (May-October) and dry season (November-April).

Home to Asian elephants, Indochinese tigers (rare), sun bears, Irrawaddy dolphins, Siamese crocodiles, and pangolins. The Tonle Sap Lake hosts diverse bird species.
