Capital: Djibouti City (largest city, economic and political center). Other major towns: Ali Sabieh (border town near Ethiopia), Tadjoura (coastal town with historic significance), Obock (important port town).

Djiboutian culture is influenced by Somali, Afar, Arab, and French traditions. Music and dance play a major role in social life, and Islam is deeply ingrained in daily customs. The nomadic heritage of many Djiboutians remains significant.

Hot desert climate, characterized by extreme heat, minimal rainfall, and high humidity, especially near the coast. Inland areas are drier and hotter.

Notable wildlife includes hamadryas baboons, Soemmerring�s gazelles, antelopes, geckos, and various bird species. The waters off Djibouti are home to whale sharks.
